Adolescence is a time of unique growth and opportunity. During adolescence, an individual acquires greater physical, cognitive, emotional and social capabilities. Good health and well-being in adolescence bring benefits across the life course and into the next generation.
Our services for Adolescents include help with:
Abnormalities in the menstrual cycle of a woman are called menstrual irregularities. Hormones play an important role in regulating growth and other bodily functions. At the onset of puberty, a mixture of female and male sex hormones is produced for sexual maturity. If there is an imbalance in the hormones that control the production of male and female sex hormones, it can lead to excess levels of the male hormone or androgens and this can lead to hirsutism (excess hair), severe acne, problems with menstruation or infertility.
Many people with psychological health or mental health problems will consult a Psychologist prior to consulting their doctor. Others choose to come directly to see a doctor, or sometimes the doctor may suggest that a mental health plan could be beneficial to you.
PCOS
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder and one of the common causes of reduced fertility among women. It is characterised by an ovulation dysfunction or impedance to the normal growth and release of eggs from the ovaries. It is commonly seen in women of childbearing age and is rare after menopause. The hormonal imbalance results in enlarged ovaries containing multiple small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) which may cause excess production of androgens from the ovaries.
Weight Concerns
